If you can’t tell by the title, we are seriously crushing on Moore. Our infatuation grew after Matt yielded a double to Dustin Pedroia and a three-run homer to David Ortiz in the first inning. For Matt to walk two and strike out eight, all in only his second full season in the majors, we see big things in his future. We should mention that Matt Moore has tied Washington’s Jordan Zimmerman for the major league lead in victories, became the first Tampa Bay starter to begin a season 7-0 and tied a club record by winning his eighth straight decision dating to September.

“The first inning wasn’t as heartbreaking as you would think it would be just because of the way we’ve been swinging the bats,” Moore said.

“It’s one of those things where you have faith in our team and what our offense is going to do,” he added, “and as long as I put up zeroes and leave their lead at three, we’re going to make it interesting down the road.”

The whole Ray’s team deserves a high five for limiting the already struggling Red Sox to only one hit over the five innings. Close call after close call, the game was beyond gripping for a Tuesday night game – let alone a marque game. The stakes are always high against fierce competitors like the Red Sox. We were glad to be able to share the experience with valued clients like Compass HRM.

Lightning 4 vs. Flyers 2

The fourth-youngest player in NHL history Steven Stamkos reached the 200-goal mark – only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Dale Hawerchuk have done that faster. Stamkos’ milestone came on an empty-netter after Purcell scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period as the Tampa Bay Lightning bolted past the Philadelphia Flyers for a 4-2 win on Monday night.

The Lightning won for the second time in three nights. The loss was hard to take for the Flyers, who have dropped five of their last seven games. The Lightning led 2-1 after a wide-open first period. Ondrej Palat put the Lightning in front at 6:38 when Dana Tyrell found him cruising down the slot. Tyrell’s pass from the right side boards was perfect, as was Palat’s shot. Before the game finished, the two teams combined for 58 hits, lead by Ryan Malone who had eight. The win wraps up a three-game homestand for the Lightning who head out on a three-game Canadian road trip, visiting Toronto, Ottawa and Winnipeg.

The new ClearpH business cards definitely make a bold statement. We love the contrast of the bright white 100% cotton paper with cool dark gray duplex bleed. The large, simplistic typography is perfectly complemented by the texture of the luxurious paper.

The tactile experience of the deep letter press on the logo is indescribably cool. The cherry on top of our design are the hand painted edges for a pop of cyan that was mixed to match our exact Pantone color. It seems as though so few designers are using tactile mediums nowadays. We are reviving print materials and going the extra mile to provide unprecedented excellence.

ClearpH Photobooks

For our custom “Photobooks” we partnered with our client CCM Printing located in Tampa, Florida. We carried the concept of the contrasting soft white vellum sheets and the high impact grid pages. We utilized customized pages personally directed towards our target clients. We echoed the design of our new responsive website and unique brand in the style of the book. In a day and age of downloadable pdf’s, it is always exciting and refreshing to be able to feel the weight of a printed book. If you wish to become a client of ours, you may just find one of these on your coffee table in the near future!

Being economical after years of living the high life can come as a drastic reality to any athlete. Broke shows hows all too often athletes are suckered into bad investments, stalked by freeloaders, stuck with life-long medical problems and frivolous lifestyles catch up with them. Through surprisingly candid confessions, athletes such as Keith McCants, Bernie Kosar and Andre Rison and Marvin Miller, fascinatingly dig into the psychology of how competitive nature can carry athletes to victory on the field and ruin them financially.

Director Billy Corben (The U, Cocaine Cowboys, Limelight) paints a complex picture of the many forces that force athletes into a financial crises. While some of the blame is on the culture at large, many athletes still have to take personal responsibility for their own shortcomings. Broke gives homage to the economic issues that plagues our society on every level and humanizes the superstars like no other film has before.

“The root of the problem, most of the speakers seem to agree, is that players most often turn pro by their very early twenties, right out of college if not before that. They generally have no business experience. Unlike people who inherit their wealth or make it in business, they don’t necessarily have natural connections to people who are used to handling a lot of money. When you hand a 22-year-old a few hundred thousand dollars, it’s most likely going to be spent. That is not an age in which you typically find excellent long-range planning skills, after all.” – Former NBA player Jamal Mashburn, talking about an endorsement deal with Fila that netted him a Ferrari as a signing bonus when he couldn’t even drive stick.

Extravagant spending sprees are just part of the problem. Many young athletes are not branded in a way that will benefit them in the long-term. One example of an exceptionally bright pro-athlete is ClearpH client, Marcedes Lewis.
